Outline proposals for their £1 billion integrated forest industry project at Invergordon were revealed yesterday (Monday 14 February) by Forscot at an open meeting for members of the local community.
At the meeting, which was attended by John Thurso, MP, Forscot showed artist's impressions of the site and gave details about the project, as well as explaining the stages and timescale for building and operating the plant.
Ed Gillespie, chairman of Forscot, said: ‘We arranged this meeting so that we could involve members of the local community at an early stage in our planning process and address any issues or concerns they may have.
‘This is the start of a continuing dialogue that we plan to have with local residents and others with an interest in the project to help us make it a successful venture for Invergordon, for the Highlands and for Scotland.'
The next stage in the development is to obtain the necessary planning and environmental permits to build and operate the plant. Forscot plans to start construction in 2006 and begin production in 2008.
